Introducing our LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE GALA HWLI Speaker: Lori Vang_____________________________________________________Lori Vang resides in the vibrant homelands of the Dakota and Anishinaabe people, immersed in the rich culture of Mni Sota Makoce, meaning “the land where the waters reflect the sky.” As a proud Hmong American and a second-generation immigrant, Lori embodies the spirit of resilience. Lori naturally inspires others in her career and life, finding joy in guiding loved ones to grow into their best selves. Since High School, Lori has been dedicated to youth development, driven by the belief in the transformative power of collective voices. This commitment led her to a fulfilling role as a Program Manager at the Youth Leadership Initiative in St. Paul, MN in September 2023. With over seven years in leadership development and facilitation, Lori has been a trainer and consultant with several local youth development organizations, such as Big Brother Big Sister, the University of Minnesota's Center for Youth Development, and HWLI. In high school, Lori was part of youth leadership programs like Knight Crew at Harding Senior High School. As a 2020 Alumna of the Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI), she served as a youth mentor, designing curriculum on leadership and social justice topics, exploring culture, and building teamwork. During the pandemic, Lori collaborated with Bridgemakers and MN Champions to develop and promote a youth policy agenda aimed at candidates running for national, state, and local offices. She also advocated for Minnesota’s high school students to receive unemployment benefits and pandemic unemployment assistance in 2020. In her free time, Lori enjoys reading romance novels, arts and crafts, cozy gaming, trying out new recipes, and catching up on rest. Lori values growth over perfection. She believes in constant learning, approaching every situation with humility and a social justice perspective.
